Examination Instructions for Candidates
A. Examination Frequency
- For Form 1 to Form 5, there are two examinations each year, namely the First-Term Examination and the Second-Term Examination.
- For Form 6, there are the First-Term Test, Mid-Term Mock Examination, and Mock Examination.
- In addition, there are two annual unified tests for Form 1 to Form 5.
- Subject-specific tests may also be conducted as required by each subject.
B. Special Arrangements for Unifrom Tests/Examinations
1. Special Circunstances:
If a student is unable to participate in the unifrom test due to special circumstances, they may be granted special arrangements, including:
1.1 Bereavement of immediate family members (parents/siblings).
1.2 Hospitalization due to illness.
1.3 Inability to take the test due to injury.
For the 1.1 situation mentioned above, a parental letter of application must be submitted. For the 1.2 and 1.3 situations, a medical certificate from a Western doctor and a parental letter of application must be provided.
2. Handling of Unified Test Arrangements:
2.1 Except for Form 3 students, subject heads and subject teachers may use the average of regular assessments (e.g., average score of quizzes) as the score for the unified test.
2.2 Since the scores of Form 3 students will affect subject selection in Form 4, the handling of unified test scores must be discussed by subject teachers and the Head of Academic Affairs, and the calculation method should be determined accordingly.
3. Application Procedure:
- Phase 1: Students can directly submit their application documents to the Head of Examination Affairs for joint approval by the Head of Examination Affairs and the Head of Academic Affairs.
- Phase 2: If students have any objections to the approval result, they can express their concerns or appeal to the Vice Principal through the Head of Examination Affairs, who will review the case.
- Phase 3: If students have any objections to the approval result, they can express their concerns or appeal to the Principal through the Head of Examination Affairs, who will make the final decision.
4. No Special Arrangements for Examinations: Teachers should enter "abs" in Websams.
C. Review of Examination Results (Grade Appeals) Arrangements
Scope: Review of scores and grading (subject rankings are not handled).
Only the records, input, and calculation process of scores will be examined. Re-marking of answer scripts will not be conducted.
(If students have any concerns about the marking, they should raise them during the post-examination feedback stage.)
Deadline: Within five working days after the distribution of the report cards.
Procedure: Submit a parental letter explaining the issue and the expected result, along with a copy of the report card indicating the subject, paper type, and score with the issue mentioned.
D. Regulations for Photocopying Examination Papers:
- The photocopying service is provided by the staff of the General Office.
- The application for photocopying examination papers is only accepted within seven working days after the completion of the examination. Late applications will not be accepted.
- Service charges: HKD 10 per subject for Chinese, English, Mathematics, and Liberal Studies; HKD 3 per subject for other subjects.
E. Examination Scoring Arrangements
1) Weightage of Examination Scores:
- The first-semester examination accounts for 40% of the total score, while the second-semester examination accounts for 60%. The total score for the entire year is 100.
- The weightage of regular assessments is 30%, and the weightage of examinations is 70%.

The passing score for junior secondary is half of the maximum score for each subject/paper.
