家長學堂徵文比賽(2022-2023)

| 小學時期，小朋友只要聽教聽話，聽從父母指令，這樣便可以享受一片寧靜。但到了中學階段，很多事情好像逆轉，不單止有自己所謂的價值觀，而且很多時候開始「說一句反駁十句」，這樣的青少年反叛期，我開始懊惱了。感謝平中及校長舉辦「家長學堂」，雖然每堂時間有限，但每一堂總有些方法及提示，往往令我反思自己應該如何調整自己心態。與子女「同行」並不容易，在他正值青春期，要打開心窗還有一點距離。幸好上了一堂「你是第幾型」性格分析，至少清楚知道他的性格，我要用什麼方法與他溝通才見效，這個亦是我最好時機與小朋友交流。有些話題與自己子女，有時很難開口，例如現今社會年青人對「性」的看法，幾好奇又欠缺正確觀念，作為家長有時顯得尷尬。我記得上了「子女談情說性」，當中提及父子對話參考，好讓我加強自己說話技巧，既有效又不失禮。「與網絡世代同行」課程等同於和自己子女「同行」一樣，我認為頗重要就是自己需要升值自己。要知道自己子女接觸什麼？接觸什麼資訊？用什麼Apps和同學交流，甚至連自己最討厭「打機」都要知道，因為要做到和自己子女同聲同氣，少不免要提升自己。有個課程令我很好奇，「展翅高飛」課程是關於介紹升學就業的工作種類及入讀資格，當然先了解自己取向才可以找適合工作。問題在於中一生有關連嗎？校長提及到為自己小朋友做好生涯計劃，從中也應該給予學生有基本認知。對！中學六年生活必須慢慢為他規劃正確健康道路是必須的。疫情過後，有很多事情改變，而學生在生活上或學習上都慢慢回復正常。今年舉辦的主題「重新出發」，讓我自己和小朋友一起學習，一起探索，提升正確的價值觀，能夠一生走在正路，多謝校長、教會職員及家教會能夠舉辦一個具有意義及學習平台給予家長，亦祝願平中學生身心靈得以全面健康成長。 |

| Through the "Chinese Cultural Business Week" on February 6th, I had the opportunity to meet with volunteer parents and students at Pingzhong School once again. It was heartwarming to see everyone happily engaged in various activities, and the long-lost warm exchanges were revisited. Teachers designed games wholeheartedly for the students, while parents prepared delicious food with equal dedication. The attitude of everyone working together to accomplish meaningful tasks truly touched me. Through various activities, students had the opportunity to experience social life and learn about Chinese culture. The addition of food enhanced their joyful experience, and both teachers and parents dressed in various Chinese-style outfits, which added to the atmosphere. Parents who participated in person at the school not only demonstrated their commitment to the school but also spread the belief and enthusiasm for voluntary work to other parents and students. Although I couldn't attend the trip on February 19th, I participated in preparing the travel goodie bags. I saw the Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association putting in great effort to gather various sponsored items for the event. As a committee member, I naturally wanted to contribute my part. Everyone packed the bags with smiles and in an orderly manner until close to 10 p.m. without feeling tired. We even jokingly said, "The registration fee is definitely worth it!" Seeing photos from the trip allowed us to feel the joyful atmosphere of the event and swept away the gloom of the pandemic. My daughter is a photography major, and if she had joined the trip, she would have captured even more wonderful moments. I will definitely persuade her to participate next time! The path of education is not easy, but those who persevere and "lead children on the right path without deviation until the end" have an invaluable sense of responsibility. I am grateful that my children are receiving education at PESS, and I hope they will have a bright future ahead of them. |

When I received this letter from home, I was truly delighted and a bit emotional. It is truly inspiring to receive awards, big and small, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic for over three years. I am very grateful for the efforts of the teachers and students, as it is thanks to them that we have achieved such remarkable results. My son has entered his second year at school, and in recent months, he has been sharing various experiences with me—being praised or reprimanded by teachers, interactions with peers, and even minor incidents. I am grateful that even during his adolescence and rebellious phase, he is willing to share what happens at school with me. Each time I listen to his stories, I can sense that he is gradually integrating into campus life and willing to learn here. This is exactly what I hope to see. As we all know, PESS is a caring institution. It not only shows care for the students but also frequently organizes various activities and lectures. I am grateful that I can feel this love from all of you. It is a blessing to grow together with everyone, with our children, in such a loving environment.
