Tourism and Hospitality
Course aims
Students should be able to establish knowledge and understand:
- Understand the interconnected structures and natures within the industry;
- Recognize the relative importance of the tourism and hospitality industries to destination countries/places and the global economy;
- Understand important issues related to tourism and hospitality, and analyze the major factors that influence the supply and demand of tourism and hospitality services;
- Evaluate sustainable tourism strategies that should be adopted to minimize negative impacts and maximize positive impacts on the economy, environment and society;
- Appreciate the importance of tourists and tourism/hospitality practitioners fulfilling their responsibilities with ethical standards;
- Effectively apply skills such as information technology, communication, problem-solving and critical thinking in the dynamic tourism and hospitality environment;
- Demonstrate basic principles of providing quality customer service
