Aims

1. To cultivate students' abilities in reading, writing, listening, thinking, and speaking Chinese, and to enhance their interest in learning the Chinese language. It also aims to develop students' self-learning capabilities for further studies.

2. To inspire students' thinking, cultivate their character, deepen their understanding of the Chinese language, and strengthen their sense of social responsibility.


Teaching Objectives

1. Junior Secondary Level:

1.1. To develop basic skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and to enhance knowledge of the Chinese language and general knowledge. It aims to cultivate self-learning abilities and foster innovative thinking, aiming for excellence based on a foundation of basic language proficiency.

1.2. To cultivate aesthetic appreciation and nurture character, as well as instill a sense of responsibility towards the community.

1.3. To foster proactive learning attitudes and positive values.

   


2. Senior Secondary Level:

2.1. To enhance skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, as well as independent thinking, critical thinking, and creativity.

2.2. To cultivate aesthetic appreciation and abilities, develop character, understand personal abilities and inclinations, and plan for future learning, life, and work. It also aims to strengthen the sense of responsibility towards family, society, and the nation.

2.3. To cultivate a spirit of diligence in learning, a proactive attitude, positive values, and broaden international perspectives.


Curriculum Features:

  1. Junior Secondary Level "Putonghua Teaching": Some classes at the junior secondary level are taught in Putonghua (Standard Mandarin Chinese) to improve both writing and speaking abilities.
  2. Catering to Learning Differences: The curriculum is designed to accommodate students' abilities, with appropriate teaching materials, adjustments in teaching methods, and assessments to ensure that students of different abilities can participate in learning and demonstrate their potential.

  3. Diversified Learning: In addition to classroom teaching, an online reading platform called "I Love Hong Kong Young Readers" is provided to encourage students to utilize their free time and self-study using information technology. Collaborative activities with Chinese Language Society, campus journalists, lunchtime subject activities, and "Chinese Language and Putonghua Week" provide diverse learning opportunities in various forms.
